Deities of the Winds: EUROS and APELIOTES

Euros who brings warmth and rain from the east, is represented holding a vase inverted, pouring rain from it.

Apeliotes, of the southwest, carries fruits of many kinds, wears boots, a crown of orange blossoms and is not so lightly clad as Zephyr or Euros.

Daughters of Eos/Aurora the personification of the dawn of morning, at whose approach a fresh wind is felt, and Astraeos the god of starlight; sisters of Boreas (north wind), Zephyr (west), Notos (south), and Lips (southeast).

Classical bisque figures, 21 inches on 36 inch wood bases, $4000 pair.

Bisque, unglazed fine true porcelain, was first produced by Sevres, Manufacture Royale des Porcelaines de France. Louis XV offered the Castle of Vincennes for their factory in 1738 and assigned his goldsmith Duplessis in 1751 to supervise production and draw the designs. Duplessis was the inventor of biscuit, or bisque.
